1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Hemiglot. By installing the "Hemiglot - Duolingo Vocabulary Downloader" Chrome extension or accessing our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, we’ll be sad to see you go, but you must stop using our tools immediately.
2. Description of Service
Hemiglot currently provides a browser extension designed to help users download their vocabulary data from Duolingo. In the future, Hemiglot may expand to include a broader platform of language-learning tools, including but not limited to word sorters, flashcard systems, and progress trackers (collectively, the "Services"). We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. Relationship with Third Parties
Hemiglot is an independent project. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Duolingo. * You acknowledge that our tools interact with third-party platforms.
- Hemiglot is not responsible for any changes Duolingo makes to its platform that may render our Service temporarily or permanently non-functional.
- You are responsible for complying with the Terms of Service of any third-party platform you use in conjunction with Hemiglot.
4. Use of the Services
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Hemiglot for your personal language learning. By using our Services, you agree to the following conditions regarding automation and data usage:
- Permitted Scraping: You are permitted to use automated tools to scrape Hemiglot’s website content only if the data is used for non-commercial or non-profit educational purposes.
- AI Training Prohibition: Under no circumstances may any data, text, or code from Hemiglot be scraped, harvested, or used for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, or developing artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning models, or large language models (LLMs) without our express written consent.
- General Restrictions: You agree not to use the Service for any illegal purpose, attempt to reverse engineer our proprietary code, or engage in any activity that disrupts the stability of our servers.
- Commercial Use: Any scraping or data extraction for commercial gain or by a for-profit entity is strictly prohibited unless a separate licensing agreement is in place.
5. Future User Accounts and Data
While Hemiglot may currently function without an account, future iterations of the platform may require registration.
- Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- Data Collection: We currently do not collect personal data. However we plan to implement analytical tracking in the future to study user behavior and improve our tools. We are in no way or form in the business of selling your data (in any method of trading or sharing with third parties) sourced from our chrome extension.
6. Intellectual Property
The code, branding, logos, and original content of Hemiglot are the intellectual property of Hemiglot. The vocabulary data you download belongs to you (or the platform from which it originated), but the specific way we organize and present that data through our proprietary tools remains ours.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
Hemiglot is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAIILABLE" basis. We make no guarantees that the Service will be bug-free or uninterrupted. If a Duolingo update breaks the downloader, we will do our best to fix it, but we aren't liable for any "lost" study time or data during outages.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hemiglot and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Service, including but not limited to data loss or account issues on third-party sites.
9. Changes to Terms
As Hemiglot grows from a simple extension to a full-fledged platform, these terms will change. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page or via a notification within the extension/platform.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and your use of Hemiglot shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Punjab, Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding related to Hemiglot shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Punjab, Pakistan.
